Steve Edward Roach was tried by a jury in the Circuit Court of Greene County and was convicted of capital murder, robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The capital murder conviction was based on the murder of Mary Ann Hughes in the commission of robbery while armed with a deadly weapon. Code § 18.2-31(4). Roach, who was 17 years old when the crimes were committed, was sentenced to death on the capital murder conviction...
