The Jefferson Parish District Attorney filed a bill of information charging the defendant, Travis Hicks, with illegal carrying of a weapon by a convicted felon, in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1. Following the defendant's waiver of his right to a trial by jury, the matter proceeded to a bench trial. At the conclusion of the proceedings, the trial judge found the defendant guilty as charged.
