Following the crash of a small airplane in 1995, a passenger sued the pilot for negligence. During discovery, the passenger attempted to add as a defendant the manufacturer of an air filter used in the airplane based on theories of negligence and products liability. Instead of staying the entire case so the manufacturer could prepare, the court ordered separate trials...
