On November 27, 1996, Willie Darby, Jr., and approximately 1,900 other employees of the Shreveport, Louisiana, General Motors facility (Shreveport Employees) were awarded unemployment benefits by the Louisiana Department of Labor for the period of November 1, 1996, through November 8, 1996, for the shutdown of that facility.
