On December 5, 1997, Mauricio Raul Guzman pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age. In addition to waiving his right to trial, Guzman waived his right to have the court administer oral admonishments, his right to have the court reporter record the plea, and his right to appeal without permission from the trial court.
