Robert Ward was convicted by the district court, pursuant to a jury verdict, of sexual assault of a child in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-320.01 (Cum.Supp. 1996). Ward appeals, claiming that he was denied his right to a speedy trial under the Nebraska speedy trial statutes, Neb.Rev. Stat. §§ 29-1207 through 29-1209 (Reissue 1995); Neb. Const. art. I, § 11; and the 6th and 14th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution...
