NEUMANN, Justice.

[¶ 1] William Scott Gagnon, III, appeals from a verdict and judgment of conviction for the offense of manslaughter. We affirm.

[¶ 2] On March 29, 1996, Gagnon and Phillip McIalwain left a Minot bar around 1:00 in the morning. As Gagnon and McIalwain proceeded across the parking lot, they exchanged words with Kevin and Wayne Gieser. An altercation developed, resulting in Gagnon fatally stabbing Kevin Gieser in the chest...
