This case arises from a fraudulent workers' compensation claim filed by Nancy Rhodes, a United States postal carrier in Mobile, Alabama. On September 17, 1994, a vehicle struck Rhodes' parked mail truck. Rhodes then filed a compensation claim that stated both that she was in the truck when it was hit and that she suffered injuries from the accident.
