Defendant appeals as of right from his conviction after a jury trial of failing to stop at the scene of a serious personal injury accident in violation of the provisions of § 617 of the Michigan Vehicle Code, M.C.L. § 257.617; MSA 9.2317. The trial court sentenced defendant to 180 days in jail. We reverse.
