On September 1, 1995, a fire took place at the home of Robert and Lisa Pierce in Tilton, Illinois, located in Vermilion County near Danville. The Pierces made a claim with their property insurer, plaintiff Allstate Insurance Company, whose headquarters are in Cook County, Illinois.
