In November of 1993, Mr. Dick Nelson, a well regarded customer of Signet Bank as well as a member of its advisory board, introduced two of his friends to one another. The meeting of those two friends led to the events that bring this case to us. Nelson owned a computer leasing company, Nelco, and one of his friends, Ed Reiners, had leased equipment from Nelco as an agent of a Fortune 500 company, Philip Morris.
