This case arises under the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938, as amended, 29 U.S.C. § 201 et seq. ("FLSA" or "the Act"). The Act requires public law enforcement agencies to provide overtime compensation to their employees for hours worked in excess of a prescribed work week. 29 U.S.C. § 207(a)(1), (k).
