This appeal concerns the preliminary showing that a defendant in a sexual assault case must make before he may cross-examine a constancy of accusation witness with respect to the victim's alleged prior false complaint of sexual assault by another person. The state charged the defendant, John W. Sullivan, with sexual assault in the first degree pursuant to General Statutes § 53a-70 (a) (1)
