These three suits arise out of an accident in which an 18-wheel rig fell over while emptying a load of contaminated dirt at the Woolworth Road Landfill in Shreveport. The cases were consolidated in the District Court and remain so on appeal. The District Court found the driver of the rig, Mullen Sullivan, and the operator of the landfill, Browning-Ferris Industries ("BFI"), each 50% at fault in causing the accident.
