FITZSIMMONS, Judge.

Defendant, Robert Shanks, was charged by grand jury indictment with the second degree murder of John Charrier, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. Defendant pled not guilty. Defendant's first jury trial ended in a mistrial, when the jury was unable to reach a verdict. At a second jury trial, defendant was found guilty as charged. The trial court sentenced defendant to life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension...
