Defendant, James S. Brown, was charged by indictment with two counts of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(2), (a)(3) (West 1996)) and two counts of aggravated arson (720 ILCS 5/20-1.1(a)(1), (a)(2) (West 1996)). Defendant was transferred from juvenile court to the criminal court system for prosecution. The cause proceeded to trial, where a jury found defendant guilty of the lesser included offenses of involuntary...
