On August 1, 1997, the defendant, Michael H. Grubbs, was indicted for robbery, a felony of the third degree, in violation of R.C. 2911.02(A)(3), and on August 7, 1997, he entered a plea of not guilty to the charge.

On September 5, 1997, Grubbs filed a motion for an evaluation of competency pursuant to R.C. 2945.371, and he thereafter submitted to an examination by Dr. Kim Stookey. Dr. Stookey observed, among other things, that the defendant,...
