In this appeal brought by the State of Minnesota regarding respondent's petition for postconviction relief we consider whether the court of appeals erred in concluding that because respondent is borderline mentally retarded, his constitutional right to present a meaningful defense was violated when the trial court refused to allow psychological expert testimony relating to the credibility of respondent's confession.
