The defendant, Richard C. Pike, was convicted of the lesser offense of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on an indictment charging armed carjacking, and assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.1 He was sentenced to a prison term of from six to eight years on the assault and battery conviction as well as a term of two years in a house of correction for the unauthorized use...
