On 7 November 1996, plaintiff allegedly slipped on a grape and fell while on the premises of Food Lion grocery store number 187 in Winston-Salem ("defendant's store"). She instituted this action on 18 November 1996, alleging that defendant Food Lion, Inc. was negligent in the maintenance of its premises.
