Catrina Lewis died from an asthma attack at school on March 21, 1991. Her mother and sisters sued, inter alia, the school's acting principal, a school counselor, their insurers, the Orleans Parish School Board, and the Superintendent of New Orleans Public Schools.1 The trial court awarded total damages of $1,172,661.09.
