On December 16, 1996, appellant, Salvatore Battaglia, was convicted in a non-jury trial in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County of two counts of second degree sexual assault and one count of third degree sexual assault. On February 11, 1997, the court sentenced appellant to two concurrent eight year prison terms for each of the second degree sexual offenses and a three year concurrent prison term for the third degree sexual offense.
