PALMER, J.

The defendant, Willie Askew, was convicted after a jury trial of robbery in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-134 (a) (4).1 The trial court rendered judgment in accordance with the jury verdict, and the defendant appealed from the judgment of conviction to the Appellate Court, which affirmed the trial court's judgment.
