The defendant, Edward C. Curtis III, was convicted of distribution of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school in violation of La. R.S. 40:981.3. He was sentenced to fifteen years at hard labor, plus a fine of $50,000.00 and court costs. The trial court ordered that, pursuant to La.
