On January 3, 1996, Defendant, through the use of the victims' retarded child, made an unauthorized entry into the residence of Willard and Elizabeth Jones. Once inside, Defendant, brandishing a firearm, threatened the inhabitants and, at some point, committed a battery upon Willard Jones.
