Defendant, Ernest Ford, was charged by bill of information with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95.1. Defendant entered a plea of not guilty. After a jury was selected, the trial was recessed. Thereafter, the trial court conducted a hearing on defendant's motions to suppress physical evidence and statements. Following the denial of these motions, defendant withdrew his earlier plea of not guilty and pled guilty...
