ROSS, Justice.

The appellant, Brian Craig Valle, was indicted for attempted capital murder. On November 19, 1996, he entered a plea of guilty before the court without an agreed recommendation as to punishment. At his trial, Valle signed a document acknowledging that he was admonished as to the consequences of his plea, including the full range of punishment that could be assessed against him.
