¶ 1. Gary Mauney was elected Sheriff of Tippah County on November 7, 1995. In his Qualifying Statement of Intent for Candidate for Party Nomination, Mauney indicated that he had never been convicted of a "crime punishable by confinement in the Penitentiary."
