This is an appeal from an award of alimony pendente lite and permanent alimony.

On November 15, 1995, John J. Almon (plaintiff) filed for divorce against his wife Kathye Maria Caporale Almon (defendant) pursuant to Louisiana Civil Code article 102, based on their living separate and apart.1 On November 17, 1995, defendant filed a rule for, among other things, alimony pendente lite and permanent alimony.
