The defendant, Joseph Crowder, was charged by bill of information with attempted second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:27 and 14:30.1, and second degree battery, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:34.1. Pursuant to a plea agreement, the charge of second degree battery was dropped and defendant entered a plea of guilty to one count of aggravated battery, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:34.
