HARRIS, Judge.

The jury found McKee guilty of extortion when he threatened to destroy Turner if Turner contacted Mrs. McKee concerning a relationship between McKee and Mrs. Turner.

Section 836.05, Florida Statutes (1997), makes criminal, in so far as this case is concerned, the following conduct:

Whoever, either verbally or by written or printed communication ... maliciously threatens an injury to the person...
