This is an unfortunate case in which a decree of divorce was entered by default against a client of a law firm. Believing that a claim would not be filed against it, the law firm did not report the event to its malpractice carrier, even after two letters of complaint from the client. Instead, the firm unsuccessfully attempted to vacate the decree and obtain a new trial. More than fifteen months after the default, upon receipt of notice from another attorney...
