TERRY, Associate Judge:

Jacques Flemmings, a Metropolitan Police officer, was shot and killed by his girl friend, Vene Lagon, who was also a Metropolitan Police officer. Appellant, Officer Flemmings' mother and the personal representative of his estate, brought this negligence action against the District of Columbia under the wrongful death1 and survival2 statutes, seeking damages for the death of her son....
