This is a maritime case brought in state court pursuant to the "Savings to Suitors" clause. Plaintiff, Murphy Walton, obtained a judgment against his employer, Cooper/T.Smith Stevedoring, Inc. (C/TS) and Singapore Shipping Corporation PTE., LTD (Singapore), the vessel owner, for injuries he sustained while departing Singapore's ship without the use of a gangway.
