I. INTRODUCTION

These consolidated appeals concern eight mining claims filed by Howard Hayes and his son, Michael, on Alaska-Juneau Gold Mine tailings.1 In S-6736 Hayes appeals from a superior court order ejecting him from Taku Nos. 1 and 2 for staking those claims without obtaining the consent of the landowners or posting a surety bond.
