Following a jury trial, defendant, Samuel Diaz, was convicted of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (720 ILCS 570/401(c)(2) (West 1994)), unauthorized delivery of contraband in a penal institution by an employee (720 ILCS 5/31A-1.2(c)(2) (West 1994)), and official misconduct (720 ILCS 5/33-3(c) (West 1994)). He was sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment...
