OPINION

WALKER, Chief Justice.

This is an appeal from the trial court's division of property in a divorce proceeding between appellant and appellee. In this bifurcated matter, the child custody aspect of the divorce was tried before a jury in April 1996. The division of property was later tried before the court in May 1996.
