A jury found the juvenile respondent, S.P., delinquent of attempted armed robbery. Pursuant to the habitual juvenile offender statute, section 5-35 of the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 (705 ILCS 405/5-35 (West 1996)), the trial court committed respondent to the Illinois Department of Corrections, youth division, until his twenty-first birthday.
