We granted this interlocutory appeal to determine whether the defendant, a subsidiary of a quasi-municipal corporation, is exempt from the Workers' Compensation Act pursuant to Tenn. Code Ann. § 50-6-106(5) (1991 Repl. & Supp. 1997). For the reasons herein explained, we conclude that the statutory exemption applies.
