I. INTRODUCTION

Kelly Shorten filed for sole legal custody of her daughter, alleging that Jason Wright was the father and seeking child support from him. Upon receipt of the filing, Wright, proceeding pro se, wrote to the superior court denying paternity. Because it did not view Wright's response as an answer, the court entered default judgment against him. Wright filed an Alaska Civil Rule 60(b) motion...
