Following a bench trial, defendant, Gary D. Elam, was found guilty but mentally ill of home invasion, attempted kidnaping, and aggravated criminal sexual assault. Defendant was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections for a term of 20 years' incarceration for home invasion, to be served concurrently with a term of 15 years' incarceration for attempted kidnaping, and these terms were ordered to be served...
