Defendant was tried in 1992 on a charge of first degree murder committed in 1981. The state attempted to prove, alternatively, both premeditated murder and felony murder. The underlying felony was alleged to be attempted trafficking in cocaine, and the state adduced some evidence of an attempt to traffic in cocaine.
