Defendant, Jose Castillo, was charged by information with two counts of murder and one count of armed violence (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1983, ch. 38, pars. 9-1(a)(1), (a)(2), 33A-2) for the death of David Flores, which occurred on May 11, 1986. Defendant fled Illinois and was extradited from Texas in 1995. Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of murder. The court sentenced defendant to 27 years' imprisonment, with...
