The defendant, Robert Cayton, was charged with armed robbery of a Popeye's Fried Chicken restaurant in Alexandria. He was subsequently convicted following a jury trial of the responsive verdict of first degree robbery. Following the denial of his Motion for New Trial, the trial court sentenced Defendant to serve five years at hard labor, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspended sentence.
