Defendant-appellant, Charles Picot, was convicted of the offense of second degree battery, a violation of R.S. 14:34.1, and was sentenced to five years at hard labor. The State filed a multiple bill, and the court subsequently found appellant to be a second offender, vacated his original sentence, and resentenced the Defendant to serve ten years at hard labor.
