Defendant, Eddie Richards, appeals his conviction and sentence for possession of a firearm. For the following reasons we affirm.

On July 1, 1996, the Jefferson Parish district attorney filed a bill of information charging defendant with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95.1.
