I. INTRODUCTION

Michael G. Thomas was convicted in the district court for Buffalo County of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-416(1)(a) (Reissue 1995), following his plea of no contest. Thomas was sentenced to 8 to 15 years' imprisonment and ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $750. Thomas appeals his sentence, contending that his attorney provided ineffective assistance of counsel...
