[¶ 1] The defendant, on September 23, 1997, was convicted of Hostage Taking in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1203, Kidnapping in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1201(a)(2), and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 113(a)(3).
