Scott Allen Patterson was convicted by a Ramsey County jury of first-degree murder for the May 7, 1996, beating death of 71-year-old Jack Weiss, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Patterson was sentenced to a term of life in prison. In this direct appeal, the primary issue raised is whether the trial court denied Patterson a fair trial by admitting into evidence the terms of a plea agreement requiring an accomplice testifying at Patterson's trial...
