On March 26, 1997, Joe Walker, Jr. was convicted after a trial by jury of second degree murder, aggravated kidnapping, and armed robbery, violations of La.R.S. 14:30.1, La.R.S. 14:44, and La.R.S. 14:64, respectively. On May 30, 1997, defendant was sentenced to life imprisonment without benefits on the second degree murder conviction only. He was not sentenced on the armed robbery and aggravated kidnapping charges. Therefore, only the murder conviction...
